TARATALK guest Alana Karen on how to Thrive, not just Survive, in your STEM career

STEM career reboot: Are you thriving—or just surviving?

TARATALK guest Alana Karen on STEM career reboot

The focus for this month’s TARATALKS is inspired by this year’s theme for International Women’s Day, which is #ChoosetoChallenge. Our guest is no stranger to challenge—or challenging assumptions. Alana Karen is the Director of Search Platforms at Google, an author and speaker. In December she published Adventures of Women in Tech: How We Got Here and Why We Stay. She wrote the book to counter the discouraging messages often conveyed about the dreary career prospects for women in tech. Instead, she tells stories about the lives of women who (like herself) are forging remarkable careers in an industry where they are the minority. She shares their paths and explores how they navigate challenges. Are these women thriving or surviving? Are they satisfied, or are they tempted to give up? Tough questions—with thoughtful insights, which Alana will share in her “Stem career reboot” conversation with our CEO and founder D Sangeeta.
